It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.
